Police Blotter – news from the community and campus
Nov. 7* Utah State University Campus Police responded to a fire alarm at Mountain View Tower where it was discovered that someone placed a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup in a microwave and left it cooking inside which caused smoke and set off the alarm.* Campus police responded to Widtsoe Hall on the report of a tool box that was gray in color and had a blue sign attached to the bottom that said “Restroom Closed” in white letters was found in the area.
Nov. 9* Campus police responded to Greaves Hall on a fire alarm caused by someone spilling some food they were cooking on the range top.
Nov. 10* Campus police responded to the Taggart Student Center on a report of someone playing a guitar and asking for donations. The individual was told that they needed to get permission from school officials before doing such an activity. * Campus police received a delayed report that an individual had been injured while at the American West Heritage Center Corn Maze.
Nov. 11* While campus police were interviewing an individual responsible for numerous burglaries on campus, the individual admitted to burglarizing an office in the Veterinary Science Building. The stolen property was recovered and returned to the office. * While campus police were interviewing an individual, he admitted to burglarizing a building on campus, but the individual could not remember which building. The individual told police that he took a marble ball off a desk but could not remember the color of it. * Campus police responded to a report of an individual who was accessing restricted Web pages in a classroom in the Engineering Building. The individual fled the room before police arrived.
Nov. 12* Campus police and USU Fire responded to a garbage fire on the east side of the Widtsoe-Maeser Building. It was discovered that there was a cigarette smoldering in the garbage can.* Campus police responded to the area around the Merrill Library on a report that there was someone riding a horse on the sidewalks. When police arrived the horse and rider had already left the area.
Nov. 13* Campus police responded to a fire alarm at the Bio-Technology Building that was caused by water leaking into a detector. * Campus police received a report of a small child in the parking lot by a church. It was discovered that the child lived in the area and was playing.* Campus police responded to the Nutrition and Food Sciences Building on an elevator alarm. They were able to get the individual out and get the problem fixed.
