Pre-emptive Critics: Shoot ‘Em Up

Aaron Peck

I can’t tell you how excited I am for this movie. Finally, a movie that knows exactly what it is and plays on that fact. Even the title gives the entire movie away. Yet I will go. I know what it is and what’s going to happen.

“Shoot ‘Em Up” is a movie that’s so self-aware that it’s almost a spoof of action movies, but not quite.

“Shoot ‘Em Up” was made for one thing and one thing only: to show us a bunch of over-the-top action scenes. Why? Because it can. Have you ever seen any of the “Die Hards”?

But the thing that makes “Shoot ‘Em Up” not just a good movie, but why it’s going to be a great movie, is because Paul Giamatti is the bad guy. Thank you for getting a person who can actually act.

So, I know I speak for every red-blooded American guy when I say that I pre-emptively love the crap out of this movie.
