LETTER: Rape case shouldn’t name athlete

I was saddened to hear of rape accusations here at Utah State University. It seems as if such things unfortunately happen in society. I am glad to hear that the alleged victim’s name will not be released. I am dismayed by the release of the alleged rapist’s name. This will brand him for life, whether or not he is innocent. When his future girlfriends ‘google’ him to find out more about him, they will be led to this accusation. His future will be tainted because he is willingly named, though presumed innocent. How unfortunate. Let the law deal with the alleged rapist. Don’t let the media slander his name with powerful titles like rapist. He has rights too. Protect his future. Thoughtfully frustrated,
