American West Art Show seeks submissions at American West Heritage Center

The American West Heritage Center is seeking submissions for its annual American West Art Show. The world renowned art show, which in the past had been held at the Festival of the American West, will now take place at the popular Fall Harvest Festival, Oct. 20-21. The American West Art Show has traditionally been an invitational exhibition, but this year, professional artists of all media are invited to submit works to this prestigious event. A total of 12 artists will be selected to display their art for the public. All artists are encouraged to submit and display works that are evocative of nature, traditional life, heritage, and/or the Old West. Artists will be selected on basis of excellence, diversity for the show, and conforming to the ideals of the American West Heritage Center.

Artists should send a CD or DVD portfolio of their selected work (please do not send slides), or a website link to an online portfolio, along with a letter of intent to David Sidwell, Program Director, American West Heritage Center, 4025 So. Hwy 89-91, Wellsville, UT 84339. Materials should be received by Aug. 15, 2006.

Each selected artist will be given an 8 ft by 10 ft. section of wall in a secure area to display their art. Sculptors and artists who work in other three dimensional forms will be given an equivalent space. Artists are encouraged to sell their works or prints at the Fall Harvest Festival. In the past, such renowned artists as Glen Edwards, Ortho Fairbanks, Kay Homan, Larry Winborg, Kreg Harrison and others have been Art Show participants.

Though painting and sculpture have traditionally made up the exhibit for the art show, this year the American West Heritage Center seeks other art forms as well, such as ceramics, photography and mixed media.
