OUR VIEW: LoveSacs cleaner than we thought
Much to the surprise of many students, one of the more wacky campaign promises of last year’s ASUSU candidates has come true. Four giant LoveSacs of foam are gracing the university’s presence in the Juniper Lounge of the Taggart Student Center.
Not only was the campaign promise fulfilled, but measures have been taken to follow up on ASUSU President Les Essig’s promise to keep the LoveSacs clean and smelling good.
While many around campus have been overheard talking about how these oversized bags of fun would be collectors of sweat, dead skin cells and – heaven forbid – saliva, the student body shouldn’t fear. Already on ASUSU’s agenda is a bill to mandate cleaning of the Sacs on a bi-monthly basis using university laundry facilities, thus reducing the costs extensively.
The Executive Council especially requested machine-washable covers for the LoveSacs, removing the possibility of paying hundreds of dollars in university money to dry-clean the giant bags.
In fact, these LoveSacs are going to be cleaner than the couches you and every other student has been sitting on for several years.
Good for Les, we say. He proved many of us wrong by not only following through with a major campaign promise, but watching it throughout the year. The LoveSacs might be the only guaranteed clean fabric on university property.
Now, maybe … should we think about cleaning the couches?
