Three Aggies ran past the competition Saturday at the Wilson Motor Invitational track meet by posting top 10 marks in school history.

Amber Peterson ran the second fastest time in Aggie history in 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.68 seconds.

Brittany Chadwick clocked in a 7.82 in the 60-meter dash preliminaries for the fifth fastest time in school history and came in second in the finals with a time of 7.83.

Lamar Brown sprinted his way into the ninth fastest 60-meter time in USU history with a time of 6.98 and came in second place at the meet.

The Aggie women had six first-place finishes, including senior pole vaulter Kathryn Duhadway, who jumped a 12-5 1/2.

“I’m very happy with my performance,” Duhadway said. “It was a really good meet.”

Duhadway said her performance depended on her mentality and confidence. She said she likes a lot of energy while she vaults.

Senior Aggie Carrie Yost led the way for the high jump with a height of 5-6, followed by her junior teammate Tara Pickett. Yost said her performance has gotten better every meet since having a baby last summer.

“It hasn’t been as hard as I thought,” Yost said about coming back from having a baby. “My body has shot back faster than I anticipated.”

Yost said she would like to get back to her personal record of 5-9. Despite jamming her finger in hurdle practice, she managed a third place finish in the shot put.

Junior Amy Egan clenched the mile first-place finish with a 5:17.37 while the women’s 4×400 and 4×800 relay teams also took the top spots.

The men had seven first-place winners in addition to the 4×400 relay team.

Scott Bell, who also won the hurdles 8.22, said they had a good and solid 4×400 relay team this year.

“We know each other and we know what we can do. We’ve been training together for a really long time,” Bell said. “It’s going to be exciting to see what we can do. I’m loving it.”

As for his own personal performance, he said he got off to a good start but he had to work on his endurance and getting a kick at the end.

Senor Kevin Liu added to the wins with two first-place finishes in the shot put and the weight throw.

The freshmen also stepped up to the plate with Tony Jones coming in at 8:57.07 in the 3,000 meter, Andrew Niccoli with 2:04.31 in the 800 and Aaron Clements with a 4:37.32 in the mile.

“I felt really good about their performances,” Assistant Coach Steve Reeder said. “It all worked out pretty good.”

The team will continue at Washington State on Jan. 26. This was the only home meet for the Aggies, who were joined by the University of Utah, Southern Utah University and Weber State.
