LETTER: Summit leaves students out
Editor,
Many of you who have been logging onto the USU website as of late may have read an article about the Benchmark Summit that is coming up on Oct. 29 at the Innovation Campus.
While I believe this is a great opportunity for students, the community and businesses to discuss important issues, the planners have managed to keep a third of this group out of the equation. The press release says that everyone is welcome, but the majority of students will not be able to attend this event. The timing of this could have been planned better. By having the day-long event on a week day it invariable disqualifies most students from attending. I, myself, was planning on participating until I saw the date.
For future such events I would suggest a weekend. This would allow all members of the community to attend and make for a more successful summit.
