Letter to the Editor: Sticking to your guns was right decision
Dear Editor,
The last time I wrote to public media, it was to msnbc.com once because they had met and interviewed an al-queida terrorist. I accused them of doing the terrorists a favor, and of exchanging money for the photo opportunity. They wrote back and said they did not think they did the terrorists a favor. I still think they paid them money.
So it is not with the most accepting track record that I write to you today. You have my sympathies for running most controversial ad in the Statesman ever. I see one’s position on this topic more dangerous than the ad itself. And like with MSNBC, it’s those who ad to the hype regardless of their intentions, and add to the press, are the ones doing the Persian peacock a favor.
Good job for sticking to your guns and not resigning or fire-bombing anything. I regret that you have received so many e-mails with a non-Christian approach.
Keeping in between the extremes of restricting the press and demoralizing the media is a tough job. I think you’ve done it well. I think you’re doing a good job.
