Nelson Hustles to BWC award
Utah State’s Spencer Nelson was named the Big West Conference Hustle Player of the Year for the second consecutive season, league officials announced Tuesday.
Nelson shared the honor last year with UC Santa Barbara’s Nick Jones. The award is voted on by the league’s 10 coaches.
Nelson, a 6-8 junior forward from Pocatello, Idaho leads Utah State and is second in the Big West Conference in rebounding at 7.8 boards per game. He is also second on the team in assists (2.84) and steals (1.08), and third in scoring (10.7) and blocked shots (0.64).
On the season, Nelson is shooting 59.3 percent from the field, 38.9 percent from three-point range and 73.3 percent from the free throw line.
