Police blotter: news from the campus and community

March 26

* University police responded to the Junction for a medical assist. A student had lost consciousness and hit her head on the counter. Logan Emergency Medical Services responded and transported the victim to the Emergency Room.

* University police responded to the Mountain View Tower parking area on the report that a vehicle had been deliberately moved out of its parking stall by someone other than the owner. Police are investigating.

* While patrolling central campus, university police noticed a manhole cover had been tampered with. The cover was restored to its proper position and police are investigating.

* University police responded to an animal problem. Police were informed that a dog was running at large around the Veterinary Science Building. Police looked through the area, but were unable to locate the dog.

* Police were called on a civil dispute concerning payment of a parking ticket at the USU Parking Office. The matter was resolved with no further action taken.

* University police responded to the Taggart Student Center on a report of property damage that was done to the wall next to Pizza Hut.

March 29

* University police responded to Valley View Tower to check the welfare of a student at the request of a parent. The student was located and advised to call her mother.

* University police responded to a burglary at the East Campus Office Building in which papers were possibly removed from the building. Police are investigating.

* University police received a report of a theft of a package that was sent in the mail. Police are investigating.

* Police responded to a broken window on the third floor of the TSC. No one knew how the window was broken.

March 30

* University police assisted Logan City police on a traffic stop. Logan City police officers noticed a large Paul Bunyan statue in the back of the

vehicle.

* University police responded to a medical assist at Champ Drive and U.S. Highway 89. An individual passed out on the road.

March 31

* University police assisted Logan City police with a car fire at 1150 E. U.S. 89. Campus police assisted in traffic control and obtaining information from the driver involved. Logan fire responded to extinguish the fire, there were no injuries but the vehicle was destroyed by the fire.

* University police responded to a report of a possible alcohol offense in Valley View Tower. Upon arrival, police discovered some students with alcohol in their possession. The two individuals were cited for minor in possession of alcohol.

* University police responded to the Quad on the report of a scooter being ridden on the sidewalk. The individual was contacted and warned.

April 1

* University police responded to the Quad on the report of two females streaking through the sleep out. When police arrived, they spoke with several individuals who witnessed the incident. Police were unable to find the suspects.

* A student reported that a man had tried to pick a fight with him and claimed to have a gun in his possession while they were playing basketball in the HPER gym. Police are investigating.

* University police responded to Bullen Hall on the report of an intoxicated person who had passed out on the stairs. Police made contact with the individual in his apartment and made sure he was OK.
