This year’s UST family show ‘James’ looks to be a fun filled romp
Utah State Theater’s production of the unforgettable play “James and the Giant Peach” is coming this weekend.
Since this is their annual family production, there is guaranteed fun the whole family can enjoy. This second production of the season is based on the book by David Wood.
After James’ parents are eaten by a gargantuan rhinoceros, he unfortunately ends up in the care of two aunts, Sponge and Spiker.
His luck changes, however, when he is given magic crocodile tongues that turn his world upside down. Friendly giant insects then help James escape from his aunts, and together they embark on an adventure via the famous giant peach.
The set and lights in the play are incredible. There are so many bright colors and fun shapes to catch the audience’s attention, especially for smaller kids. In fact, this play was a great choice for the annual family production. The play’s plot is simple enough for youngsters to understand and follow and is also very entertaining, offering adults a great time.
Cast members do a really great job of playing their assigned characters. Whether they are a creaky old grasshopper, a snazzy lady bug, or a dominating aunt, the body movements of the cast fit their characters and are very amusing. There is so much energy exude in this play that makes it a lot of fun and easy to enjoy.
