Utah Gov. Spencer Cox asked to evacuate from State Capitol amid protests

Update: 4:04 p.m.

Utah Gov. Spencer Cox took to Twitter to address the protests at The Utah State Capitol and the United States Capitol Wednesday afternoon.

“I never thought I would have to deliver this message on my second day on the job,” he said.

Speaking from the Governor’s Mansion, Cox said he was deeply troubled by the devastation and the cowardly acts of violence at the nation’s Capitol.

“As patriots, as Utahns, as Americans and as people who care deeply about each other and who care deeply about this great nation, I urge you to stand up and speak out against the violence, against the terrorists and against the evil that we have seen in our nation’s Capitol today.”

Fortunately, he added, the protests in the state of Utah have been “mostly peaceful.” He also encouraged people to protest, but asked them to do so in a calm and civilized manner.

“I’m calling on all you to speak out, to speak up. And to let your friends, your family and your neighbors know that this is unacceptable.”

Cox said he trusts that Utahns will continue to be an example to the rest of the nation.

I was so disgusted that the rioters/mobsters/terrorists who stormed the Capital. I hold Trump responsible for inciting them to go after the this and try to stop the Certifification of the Electorial College. I also blame and hold these rioters as well. No one has to do something just because trump tries to rouse them to do that.

Trump has proven that he is not fit to be a President or hold any office in this country. He has shown who he is, selfish, racist, sexist, not loyal to anyone, liar, conman, and is very vindictive. He is only about himself. Glad he was voted out.

Joe has the experience in Politics, and has been vice president for 8 years, and is compassionate, presidential, humble. I have confidence in Joe’s leadership.
