Wind damage to car windows in Aggie Village
Editor,
After reading the article and “your view” in the Friday 4/9 edition of the Statesman regarding Aggie Village residents who had car windows damaged during the east wind storm on 4/2, the first thing that came to mind was “Honestly”. The society that we live in has become so consumed with ourselves that anything that happens to us or around us is always someone else’s fault and therefore “someone” has to be held accountable. Yes, I agree that it was most unfortunate that windows got busted. But like I said earlier “Honestly!” How is the housing department supposed to stop the wind? People say it is because of the gravel roofs. Those roofs have been like that since the early 1960’s. How do you know that the rocks came from the roof and not loose road gravel or blown in from other locations? That wind was awful fierce! The reason we have car insurance or insurance at all is for things like this that are out of our control. When are we going to become responsible for ourselves? I understand that we are poor college kids with no money, but it is no one’s fault except Mother Nature and I don’t think it is likely that you will be able to slander her in the newspaper, or that she is going to pay for a new window. She may just get mad and send a tree to land on your car!
